Muchos due\u00f1os de perros se han preguntado esto: \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 comen hierba los perros? \u00bfSe trata de una necesidad alimentaria innata, o es se\u00f1al de algo m\u00e1s preocupante? En este art\u00edculo profundizaremos en este comportamiento, examinando las razones por las que los perros comen hierba, si lo hacen cuando est\u00e1n enfermos y por qu\u00e9 algunos acaban vomitando despu\u00e9s.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 comen hierba los perros? Conceptos b\u00e1sicos <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hist\u00f3ricamente, los perros en estado salvaje sol\u00edan comer material vegetal como parte de su dieta. Esto se debe a que los perros, a diferencia de los gatos, no son carn\u00edvoros estrictos. Sus h\u00e1bitos alimentarios se inclinan m\u00e1s por ser omn\u00edvoros, lo que significa que pueden consumir tanto alimentos c\u00e1rnicos como vegetales. Es posible que los perros domesticados de hoy hayan conservado este comportamiento ancestral.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adem\u00e1s, algunas teor\u00edas sugieren que los perros podr\u00edan comer hierba por las siguientes razones:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Necesidades nutricionales<\/strong>: La hierba contiene nutrientes esenciales que un perro puede desear, sobre todo si faltan en su dieta habitual. Incluye <a href=\"https:\/\/bonza-retheme.blz.au\/es\/?page_id=51595\">fibra<\/a>, que facilita la digesti\u00f3n, y aporta otros minerales. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Comportamiento instintivo<\/strong>: Comer hierba puede ayudar a los perros a purgar su organismo si se encuentran mal o si han comido algo que no les sienta bien.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sabor y textura<\/strong>: A algunos perros simplemente les gusta el sabor o la textura de la hierba, igual que a los humanos nos gustan ciertos alimentos por su textura o crujido.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 los perros comen hierba cuando est\u00e1n enfermos?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Una de las creencias m\u00e1s extendidas es que los perros comen hierba cuando se encuentran mal. Se piensa que este comportamiento es un remedio natural que les ayuda a inducir el v\u00f3mito. Pero, \u00bfhay algo de cierto en ello?  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Em\u00e9tico natural<\/strong>: La textura gruesa de las briznas de hierba puede irritar la garganta y el revestimiento estomacal del perro, provocando potencialmente el v\u00f3mito. Si un perro ha consumido algo t\u00f3xico o indigesto, este acto de vomitar puede ser beneficioso para expulsar la sustancia nociva. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ayuda digestiva<\/strong>: Para los perros que no vomitan despu\u00e9s de comer hierba, la fibra a\u00f1adida puede ayudarles con los movimientos intestinales, permiti\u00e9ndoles expulsar cualquier cosa molesta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S\u00f3lo el 10% de los perros que comen hierba estaban indispuestos en el momento de pastar. Es importante tener en cuenta que no todos los perros vomitan despu\u00e9s de comer hierba, y que no todos los perros que comen hierba est\u00e1n enfermos de antemano. Esto nos lleva al siguiente punto.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 los perros comen hierba y vomitan?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Como ya se ha dicho, no todos los perros que mastican hierba acaban vomitando. De hecho, menos del 25% de los perros vomitan despu\u00e9s de comer hierba. Sin embargo, para los que s\u00ed lo hacen, he aqu\u00ed algunas posibles explicaciones:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Irritaci\u00f3n por las briznas de hierba<\/strong>: La textura \u00e1spera de la hierba puede irritar el revestimiento del est\u00f3mago y la garganta del perro, provocando v\u00f3mitos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Consumo r\u00e1pido<\/strong>: Si un perro engulle grandes cantidades de hierba r\u00e1pidamente, esta s\u00fabita cantidad de forraje puede causarle malestar estomacal y provocar v\u00f3mitos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toxinas o pesticidas<\/strong>: Algunas hierbas pueden estar tratadas con productos qu\u00edmicos perjudiciales para los perros. Si consumen esa hierba, es normal que se sientan mal y vomiten. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Problemas m\u00e9dicos subyacentes<\/strong>: Si come hierba y vomita repetidamente, podr\u00eda ser se\u00f1al de un problema subyacente m\u00e1s grave, como gastroenteritis, <a href=\"https:\/\/bonza-retheme.blz.au\/es\/?p=53112\">enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal (EII)<\/a> u otras dolencias digestivas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aunque el acto de comer hierba pueda parecer extra\u00f1o a muchos due\u00f1os de mascotas, se trata de un comportamiento relativamente com\u00fan.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.une.edu.au\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0019\/32446\/bjone-brown-price-grass-eating20patterns-raan-2007.pdf\">(1<\/a>) Ya sea por instinto, necesidades alimentarias o simple curiosidad, es esencial que observes a tu mascota y te asegures de que no ingiere sustancias qu\u00edmicas nocivas ni muestra signos de angustia.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si observas que tu perro come hierba con frecuencia y vomita, o si muestra cualquier otro comportamiento preocupante, siempre es buena idea consultar con tu veterinario.
