Selon la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 v\u00e9g\u00e9tarienne du Royaume-Uni<\/a>, les v\u00e9g\u00e9tariens (et les v\u00e9g\u00e9taliens) ne consomment pas de produits ou de sous-produits de l’abattage. Ils ne consomment pas d’aliments fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 l’aide d’auxiliaires de fabrication issus de l’abattage. <\/p>\n\n

Un aliment v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien pour chiens peut contenir des \u0153ufs (jaunes, blancs ou les deux), des coquilles d’\u0153ufs, des produits laitiers (fromage, lait, cr\u00e8me, lactos\u00e9rum, pr\u00e9sure), du miel, de la vitamine D3 provenant de la lanoline (extraite de la laine de mouton).<\/p>\n\n

Les aliments v\u00e9g\u00e9tariens pour chiens<\/a> tirent leurs prot\u00e9ines des \u0153ufs, du lactos\u00e9rum ainsi que des l\u00e9gumineuses, des graines, des noix, des c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, du riz et des tubercules comme les pommes de terre. Ils sont utilis\u00e9s avec d’autres fruits et l\u00e9gumes pour produire un aliment v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien pour chiens. <\/p>\n\n

La vitamine D est une n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 pour les chiens, car contrairement aux humains qui peuvent produire de la vitamine D gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re du soleil, ils ne peuvent pas la produire eux-m\u00eames et doivent donc l’inclure dans leur r\u00e9gime alimentaire.<\/p>\n\n

Les aliments v\u00e9g\u00e9tariens pour chiens utilisent le plus souvent de la vitamine D3 d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de la laine de mouton qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 tondue.<\/p>\n\n

Contrairement aux aliments pour chiens v\u00e9g\u00e9taliens qui ne peuvent contenir aucun ingr\u00e9dient provenant d’une source animale.<\/p>\n\n

Ainsi, un aliment v\u00e9g\u00e9talien pour chiens ne peut pas contenir de produits laitiers, de miel (ou de propolis), d’\u0153ufs ou de d\u00e9riv\u00e9s d’\u0153ufs comme les coquilles d’\u0153ufs, de collag\u00e8ne animal ou marin, ni de vitamine D3 d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de la lanoline.<\/p>\n\n

Aux \u00c9tats-Unis, les aliments pour chiens sont autoris\u00e9s par l’AAFCO<\/a> (Association of American Feed Control Officials), l’organisme qui r\u00e9git les aliments pour animaux, y compris les aliments pour animaux de compagnie, \u00e0 utiliser la vitamine D2 comme source de vitamine D dans les aliments pour chiens. La vitamine D2 est d\u00e9riv\u00e9e du jaune d’\u0153uf, du fromage et principalement des champignons expos\u00e9s \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re ultraviolette. <\/p>\n\n

Au Royaume-Uni et dans l’Union europ\u00e9enne, seule la vitamine D3 est autoris\u00e9e par la loi comme source de vitamine<\/a> D essentielle \u00e0 l’alimentation de nos chiens. La raison de ce changement est que la recherche montre que la vitamine D2 n’est pas aussi biodisponible que la vitamine D3<\/a> et augmente donc la probabilit\u00e9 que les chiens souffrent d’une carence en vitamine D avec les probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 qui en d\u00e9coulent, notamment l’insuffisance cardiaque, les douleurs musculaires, la faiblesse musculaire, les douleurs osseuses, la perte de poils, la fatigue, la mauvaise cicatrisation des plaies, la constipation et\/ou la l\u00e9thargie.<\/p>\n\n

Bien que, par d\u00e9finition, un aliment v\u00e9g\u00e9tarien pour chiens puisse utiliser de la vitamine D3 d\u00e9riv\u00e9e de la laine de mouton, puisqu’aucun animal n’a \u00e9t\u00e9 abattu au cours de la production, un aliment v\u00e9g\u00e9talien pour chiens ne le peut pas, car il s’agit d’un produit d\u00e9riv\u00e9 d’un animal.<\/p>\n\n
