Wat maakt veganistisch hondenvoer?<\/h2>\n\n

Laten we veganistisch-vriendelijk defini\u00ebren (ik ga ervan uit dat als je dit leest je volledig begrijpt wat hondenvoer is \ud83d\ude0adus daar ga ik niet op in!)<\/p>\n\n

Ik ga er ook vanuit dat we het verschil weten tussen vriendelijk en onvriendelijk \ud83d\ude0a of \ud83d\ude20<\/p>\n\n

Ten eerste, wat is veganistisch? Veganistische (en vegetarische) di\u00ebten sluiten allebei vlees en zeevruchten uit (evenals insecten!). Veganistische di\u00ebten gaan echter nog een stap verder door elk ander voedingsmiddel van dierlijke oorsprong uit te sluiten. Naast het vermijden van vlees, vermijden veganisten dus ook zuivelproducten, eieren en honing. Bovendien bevatten veganistische voedingsmiddelen nooit bijproducten van dierlijke landbouw, zoals reuzel, wei of gelatine. <\/p>\n\n

Als iets op de markt wordt gebracht als veganistisch, dan mag het helemaal geen dierlijke ingredi\u00ebnten of van dieren afgeleide ingredi\u00ebnten bevatten. Het zou ook moeten betekenen dat er geen dieren of dierlijke producten zijn gebruikt in enig onderdeel van het product in vragen over de productie. <\/p>\n\n

Maar zonder formele certificering als veganistisch door een veganistische keuringsinstantie zoals Vegan Friendly<\/a>, The Vegan Society<\/a>, European Vegetarian Union<\/a>, Vegan Action<\/a> of The Vegetarian Society<\/a>, kan het moeilijk zijn om te controleren of een product, inclusief hondenvoer, veganistisch-vriendelijk is of niet.<\/p>\n\n

Sommige producten die dierproeven gebruiken noemen zichzelf veganistisch-vriendelijk omdat alle ingredi\u00ebnten die gebruikt worden om hun producten te maken veganistisch zijn. <\/p>\n\n

Voor sommigen betekent het gebruik van ingredi\u00ebnten of processen die dierlijke producten bevatten dat een product niet echt veganistisch is. In dit geval zou veganistisch-vriendelijk ook het vrij zijn van dierproeven inhouden, naast het vrij zijn van ingredi\u00ebnten op dierlijke basis. <\/p>\n\n

Een veganistisch hondenvoer<\/a> is daarom in de eerste plaats een hondenvoer dat gemaakt is zonder dierlijke ingredi\u00ebnten, met andere woorden, alleen gemaakt met plantaardige ingredi\u00ebnten.<\/p>\n\n

Volledig en strikt veganistisch voedsel voor honden<\/a> zou niet getest moeten worden op honden die een leven in gevangenschap leiden met als enige doel het testen van voedingsproducten.<\/p>\n\n

Er zijn bepaalde ingredi\u00ebnten, die essentieel zijn voor de voeding van je hond, die niet gemakkelijk te verkrijgen zijn en vaak veel duurder zijn dan hun dierlijke alternatieven.<\/p>\n\n

De belangrijkste hiervan is vitamine D, die je hond uit zijn voeding moet halen omdat, in tegenstelling tot ons, hun lichaam deze essenti\u00eble vitamine niet kan aanmaken.<\/p>\n\n

Hoewel Vitamine D2 kan worden afgeleid van plantaardige bronnen, waaronder paddenstoelen, is het niet langer toegestaan om het te gebruiken in hondenvoer als de primaire bron van Vitamine D voor honden. De EFSA(Europese Autoriteit voor Voedselveiligheid<\/a>) verbood Vitamine D2 als enige bron van Vitamine D in hondenvoer vanaf 2019. <\/p>\n\n

Daarom gebruiken de meeste hondenvoeders Vitamine D3 dat is afgeleid van lanoline dat in schapenwol zit. Veganistische Vitamine D3<\/a> is afkomstig van algen (zeewier). Het heeft precies dezelfde chemische structuur als lanoline. Het is echter aanzienlijk duurder. <\/p>\n\n

Per definitie is veganistisch hondenvoer ook vegetarisch hondenvoer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
